For Treatment and Prevention of Fine Lines and Wrinkles
What are neuro-modulators?
Botox and Xeomin are both forms of Botulinum Toxin-A, a neuro-modulator. When injected into the muscles of the face, the result is less movement of the treated muscle. Less movement of the muscle means that you are forming less expression lines and, over time, it can prevent, soften, and, in some cases, eliminate the fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

What areas can be treated with Botox and Xeomin?
The most common areas treated with neuro-modulators are fine lines and wrinkles in the following areas:
-
the forehead (frontalis muscle),
-
the central frown lines between the eyebrows (procerus and corrugator muscles), and
-
the crows feet (lateral obicularus oculi).

How long does a treatment last?
Typically 3-5 months.... The duration of effects from each treatment depends on a few things...
-
the strength of your muscles - everyone has varying muscle size and strength. A skilled injector will take into account your specific anatomy, movement, and the desired result.
-
the dose delivered to each area - neuromodulator treatments are extremely dose-dependent - the dose will effect not only the initial result (i.e. how much movement is effected or interrupted) but it will also effect how long your treatment lasts.
-
Metabolism and Exercise - patients with higher your metabolisms or those that workout often may need more frequent treatments.

How many units do I need?
This is extremely specific to your anatomy and desired results. As mentioned above, those with stronger / more active muscle anatomy may require a higher number of units. And those that may want to have some movement, for a more natural look, will likely require less units. Typically a forehead treatment can range from 10-20 units, the treatment of central frown lines ("the elevens") will require 12-20 units, and the treatment of crows feet will require 12-24 units.
